After 7 years of development I am able to present you with the worlds first Timber Slide Didge "The Universal Communicator". A Didge players Dream.

This new Timber Slide Didge will help you improve your playing techniques weather you are a professional or beginner. If this instrument does not help push the limits of your didge playing you can have your money back on return of the instrument.

This instrument has an awesome balance of sound clarity, durability and portability.

The sound resonates from your bodys sole through the timber walls and amplifies so cleanly that your spirit can be heard when jamming with any other acoustic instrument. A drum DOES NOT drown out this didge. Its high resonating volume output lets you focus your energy on the intricacies of your playing technique and not waste energy on just trying to be heard. The amazing ability of this instrument is in its ease of playing and its subsequent range of overtones. The highest key played so far is D5 but I am sure trumpet players who are skilled in the art of changing embouchure will easily punch through a 5 octave range. WOW WOW WOW !!!! IT PLAYS A LOT OF NOTES.

CONSTRUCTION  -  Timber walls are made of three layer cross veneer hard wood laminated together using a recycled film from the photographic industry under heat and pressure to produce cylindrical tubes that are more perfect than your eye has ever seen. They do not bend or warp. These tubes have a higher strength to weight ratio than PVC. They are waterproofed and meticulously sanded to produce a smooth surface on both the inside and out. Metal fittings add strength, stability and durability to the instruments general robustness.

These solid brass precision engineered brass fittings can be twisted by the hand to tighten or loosen polyurethane seals on or off the timber for a fixed length or smooth slide.

Interchangeable timber mouthpieces are the first feature of this instrument that brings comfort to its dynamic sound making ability. A variety of mouthpiece fittings will be available in the future for their different sound abilities.

The standard aluminum bell end produces a unique bellowing sound characteristic. However, a variety of other bell shapes can be turned from timber on request for alternate sound effects.

This timber slidedidge is a base model for future modula developments that will make it a multi effects instrument for the 21st century. Some fittings have been made some are yet to be discovered all will help create new stories and ceremonies for our distant future.

Now is the time to jump into a new level of didge playing and break the sound barriers of our 21st century world. This is a didge that amplifies the energy you give it, allowing you to push out more sound with less energy. Imagine, layering overtones several octaves deep over a bellowing hardcore base drone while making space for wild vocal calls, rhythmic squishing & pumping of notes into a wild pulsating soundscape that  redefines world music and expression of your sole. Still you are able to breath with ease and be so relaxed that your diaphragm can pound with the rhythms of our universal environments.

The artwork of the Universal Communicator is a practical protective skin that can be peeled off and replaced if damaged in the distant future. At a glance the instruments outer appearance is a stylish looking camouflage for the 21st century that wins respect and acceptance of mainstream societies image conscious mind. With closer involvement a universal creation story is marked with multi cultural symbols of our world lighting up the depths of its infinite path.

This instrument starts in Low A1 and compacts a full octave of base drone notes to G2. The key markings on the instruments side cover 3 octaves of overtones that are easily played. However they are only a basic guide to the full extent of notes that can be produced.Click here to see it's range of notes in comparison to orchestral instruments.

We have our own Iron Bark Clap sticks that fit perfectly down the center  and can be purchased separately.
